CES2011: Dell, Motorola and more
I recently read about the Dell Venue and I was waiting for its launch arrival. Dell has formally released the Venue yesterday at the CES2011. What is the Dell Venue? A smartphone running Android 2.2 Froyo. The Venue has a 4.1-inch touchscreen – in comparison, the Droid X has a 4.3” touchscreen display. The Dell Venue come with a Gorilla Glass protection and runs under a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250 CPU with 512MB RAM and 1GB ROM and support up to 32Gb of additional storage. Dell Stage UI over Froyo . The Stage UI comes with widgets to organize music, videos and photos. Dell has not announced any pricing or availability of the new Dell Venue handset but I understood that the Venue will be sold unlocked directly from Dell website.
Big day for Dell as Dell announced the release of the Dell Streak a 7” Android tablet running on Android 2.2 – Froyo. The Dell Streak 7 will be sold through T-Mobile on its 4G network. The Streak 7 runs under a dual core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU, a 7” WVGA touchscreen also with Gorilla Glass protection, 16 GB of on board storage and SD Card slot memory up to 32 GB. Same as for the Dell Venue, no price and no release date.
Talking about T-Mobile 4G network there is a lot of talks about mobile networks and migration to 4G. Verizon scheduled a press conference at 1pm, where Verizon is expected to discuss about its 4G plans. Verizon will certainly released the pre-leaked HTC Thunderbolt, which will be the first 4G phone on Verizon. Still many speculations about Verizon selling the iPhone or not – I still think that Verizon doesn’t need the iPhone.
The Motorola Atrix smartphone. The idea behind the Atrix is that it’s a smartphone that is as powerful as a netbook. The Atrix plugs in a netbook shell to offer full keyboard and 11.6”display. The phone is the world’s most powerful smartphone, has some great features an NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU, 4” display, a front facing and a rear facing camera, 11GB RAM (you read well 11GB of RAM), 16GB on-board storage, and a microSD card slot. The Motorola Atrix runs Android 2.2 Froyo. The laptop, which is called by Motorola a webtop, has a 11.6” display, 2 USB ports and a full keyboard. Nice combo and very powerful Atrix.
Another good time of the CES 2011 opening was the announcement of T-Mobile and LG G-slate android tablet. According T-Mobile, the G-Slate will be the first 4G android tablet running Android 3.0 – Honeycomb. It will feature a set of Google applications like Google Maps with 3-D interaction, Google Book and Google Talk with video chat. No release date and no price tag yet.
Notion Ink Adam is at the CES2011 but no news from this android tablet, just a photo taken from Las Vegas. The pre-order Notion Ink Adam should ship very soon and I can’t wait to read users’ comment. As you can remember I missed to pre-order my 3G dual display Notion Ink Adam when the ordering website site crashed.

Hi Pierre,
i can’t understand why you fail to see so much coverage on notion ink adam in ces-2011.
pls check the link for notion ink coverage details in ces-2011 : “http://www.notioninkfan.com/”
And do explain why you fail to find coverage on notion ink.
we check your articles/blog so that we can be well-informed but you are provide wrong information to us.
Rajesh, this is not real news worth a trip to CES2011 and the coverage you describe look like a re-read of existing comments. I’ll write a post just for the Notion Ink Adam and CES2011.
Pierre,
Havent you been reading blogs like Engadget, Slashgear or Crunchgear? Please do your research before mentioning about Notion Ink Adam.
Suresh, this post are mainly reads of what we know already. The Notion Ink Adam deserves much better than that. I’ll write a post just about Notion Ink and CES.
No news? Adam / Notion Ink are all over CES in a good way. For example:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/05/notion-ink-adam-hands-on-preview-video/
http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/05/the-engadget-interview-notion-inks-rohan-shravan/
Not really all over the CES, I’ll write a post just for the Notion Ink Adam.
Give it a rest Rajesh, Pierre has given NI plenty of positive airtime in the past, and really, NI haven’t revealed any big news yet at CES, no firm date for second preorder, no mention of distribution outlets in the EU; it’s pretty much a repetition of information that’s been coming out of the blog.
Oh, unless you believe Rohan’s comment to CrunchGear that the secret sensor is an FM radio receiver. Not much to write home about, but then if it was, it would have been marketed up front like the PiQi.
Thanks for the update on other tech at CES. I wouldn’t expect anyone who is genuinely interested in tech to suddenly switch off to all other devices just because one company has been doing something innovative!!!
Thank you Mark and you are right the Notion Ink Adam is not making the buzz is should.
NI fanboys complain about CES coverage of adam yet Notion Ink. Perhaps NI should have bought a booth to support CES.
Instead Rohan is walking around CES 2011 with his, product, in his hand.
Its amazing, NI fanboys believe CES should be turned into a NI adam event when NI doesn’t even have an official presence at CES!!
@Pierre,
1.you have used the word “news” so the link i have given, were indeed “news”
2.See, Hear and interpret the videos, interviews. a lot of information has been given out.
like with crunchgear rohan said ” wherever the sales numbers are high, we will open service centers there.” and if i remember correctly almost in every video rohan has given some or the other information.
3.Pls do let me know when is the pre-order/sale/buynow dates for : (Dell Venue,Dell Streak 7”,HTC Thunderbolt,Motorola Atrix or LG G-slate) you have mentioned in your article above.
If not then don’t expect that some start up will give you a definite pre-order-2 date.
as a writer you should read and understand between the lines and give your fair conclusion to your readers without being judgmental .
4.don’t give positive press or negative press to any person or product just give fair press.
this is not a rant. i loved your reviews/articles in past and will continue to do so.
best regards
rajesh
BOB:
NI is not a GIGANTIC company like Motorola, HP, MicroSoft, NVidia, etc. with a bunch of money to spend on PR/conventions. Huge companies can afford the cost. NI is not there yet.
Many small companies have started at CES (and the former Comdex) by tagging along with another company in their booth. Cut them some slack.
Just my opinion.
@Zelduh you’re correct but Notion Ink is enterring a high competition market and what worked for Comdex might not work at all for the Notion Ink Adam. I woud be sad to see the Adam interesting the geeks and not the masses.
OMG!!
how are you able to miss Notion Ink , tis all the talk at ces!!
